An increase in fuel benefits as another 'environmental incentive' by the Government to get us to drive fewer miles will hit company car drivers and their employers from April 2008.
This comes on top of last years seven fold increase in benefits in kind for van drivers using their vehicles privately - all aimed at cutting mileage use with a swingeing tax wielding hammer.
Legislation means that all mileage must now be accounted for or employees will suffer a hike in their tax bills and employers an increase in National Insurance and fuel costs.
But there is action you can take now to offset the increase in costs which well informed employers are catching onto. Companies are protecting themselves and their staff by introducing automated solutions which report both business and private mileage.

From April 2008 the fuel benefit multiplier for company car drivers who receive free fuel for private use will increase from £14,400 to £16,900. Add to this an increase in fuel costs and companies who have fleet cars and vans will be feeling the pinch.
